Design Inspiration:
The Folk Art Foxy Lady card was born out of a desire to create a whimsical and vibrant design with the adorable fox die from the April monthly release by @heroarts. The combination of the Folk Fox die, the Nautical Cardstock, Stenciled background with shimmering Solar paste and the various other foliage elements provided the perfect foundation for this card. The concept of folk art, with its intricate patterns and bold colors, served as the primary inspiration for this card.
Creating the Card:
To begin, I carefully selected the Nautical Cardstock as the base for the card. I love its deep blue hue that created a striking contrast against the vibrant elements that were to be added later.
To add texture and interest, I incorporated the Dylusions Small stencil “Dot Grid” by Ranger Ink. I used the solar paste in a thin layer to the stencil that allowed me to create a subtle sheen pattern on the card, adding depth and dimension to the overall design. I let that dry an hour before I added more. You can use a dryer to speed this process up.
Next, I used the Folk Fox die by Hero Arts to cut out a charming fox shape from nautical and white Cardstock . I also used “cup of Joe” hero arts ink to color one of the foxes. I did cut 3 of each for more dimension and I completed 3 cards. The intricate details of the die added a touch of elegance to the design.
For the sentiment, I opted for the “Graphic Happy Birthday” Die by Gina K Designs. This die provided a clean and modern look, perfectly complementing the folk art aesthetic of the card. Using my favorite Connect glue by Gina K Designs, I securely adhered the sentiment, which had 3 layers and then adhered stenciled layer with foam tape for dimension to the card, ensuring a seamless finish.
To further enhance the card, I utilized the “Large Tropicals” die set by Sizzix. This set included various tropical-themed elements such as leaves and flowers. I cut these out of several pieces of card stock by @Concord&9th and @heroarts By strategically placing these die-cut pieces around the Folk Fox and under the sentiment, I added a touch of whimsy to the card.
To complete the design, I utilized the 5×7 “Double Stitched Die set” by Picket Fence Studios. This set provided a delicate stitched border, adding a polished and professional touch to the card’s edges.
Designing the Folk Art Foxy Lady card was a fun experience. I love using all of my supplies and just pulling whatever products inspire me and then figuring out a way to put it all together. The combination of the Fancy Die “Folk Fox” by Hero Arts, the “Graphic Happy Birthday” Die by Gina K Designs, and the various other elements hopefully resulted in a unique and visually appealing card.
